Back to Work

Although it has been a week since our family vacation, I am still struggling with getting back into the ‘groove’ of things, particularly with all my online tasks. When we arrived home Friday night, I thought that I only needed the following weekend to get the rest I needed to be ready for work this week. Apparently, I’m wrong …lol. The moment that I opened my computer  last Monday and saw the number of emails that I have to go through (apparently, being offline for 4 days is synonymous to hundreds of unread emails), I  was immediately looking for other less ‘stressful’ things to do. So when my husband asked me to organize all the photos that we took during the vacation, I was more than willing to do it. Sorting through the photos has been fun actually, we each have different stories about them , about the people and the places that we visited. When we saw the photo of the different business establishments that line up along the beach, my husband and I ended up having a discussion about the different strategies that these businesses employ that allow them to stand out since they are basically offering the same products and services. When we were walking along the long stretch of massage clinics, for instance, those that have eye-catching signs are the ones that are most likely to attract the attention of tourists. They must have found a reputable printing company who will print yard signs, business signs and promotional materials that they could use to attract potential customers the most. We actually availed of a back massage from one that handed out simple but detailed flyers.

Anyway, I am making an effort to get back to the groove of things; I have decided to tackle all my tasks one at a time so that I wouldn’t get overwhelmed (in fact, I have just finished going through all my unread emails). I am making progress so I am happy with that.

Have a happy weekend.

Busy but Grateful

I am really grateful than in the past few days, I have been receiving a lot of opportunities with regards to my work online. For starters, I have received quite a number of offers to write various articles. It has actually been taking most of my time these days and I’m hoping that more projects will come my way. We are saving for our children’s tuition fees and whatever payment I receive from my tasks online would go a long way.

I also plan to put up another blog that will be about arts/crafts/hobbies. My husband has a huge stamp and coin collection and I’m hoping to showcase them on an arts/crafts blog. I am also keen on pursuing a new hobby — Postcard Collecting/Swapping. Receiving postcards from various parts of the world sounds exciting (aside from the fact that it is also a great way to meet new friends).

Speaking of blessings, the first book that I’ve requested from BookSneeze arrived this morning. It took longer than I expected but nonetheless, a book in exchange for a review sounds good to me. Besides, a free book is a free book, right ? I’m looking forward to reading it this week. Hopefully, I’d get to post my review of the book within the coming days.

Adapting a New Schedule

Now that the kids are on summer vacation, I have to make some adjustments on when I can do my chores and my online work. Even if the kids don’t have to wake up early for their classes, I’d still have to get up early because I need to open our store and to prepare breakfast before they wake up. I would usually start my online work when the kids are already in school and after doing some household chores. But now, I may have to wake up earlier than usual and work online for an hour or two before they wake up because they also want to use the computer and they’d most likely ‘evict’ me if they see me in front of the computer…lol. I guess it’s probably the biggest downside of having the kids at home most of the day; they get bored easily and they want to just play video games and computer games all day.

Good thing that our children are easy to talk to. As long as you explain to them why you’re implementing a certain rule they’d gladly follow. They know that they are not allowed to use the computer without our permission and that they are only allowed to use it for a certain period of time each day.

I guess I have to finish making our new ‘schedule’, especially when it comes to who will use the computer next. That way, the kids can play their computer games and I’d get to work online as well. Good luck to us.
