It’s another long weekend for us starting tomorrow (January 31 has been declared as a Special Non-working Holiday in celebration of Chinese New Year); the kids are already excited about not having school on a Friday. They are most likely to spend it playing their favorite XBox and computer games (although we allow them an hour each day during weekends). We will just allow them to relax the whole day tomorrow since we know that they will be busy next week because they need to prepare for their exams two weeks from now.
Our youngest is also looking forward to watching some online tutorials on how to play the flute. He bought a wooden flute two weeks ago when we went shopping for some books and school supplies. He’s actually hoping that we’ll be able to buy a guitar within this year because he also wants to learn how to play the guitar. He has actually been suggesting that we look online for guitars so that we’ll have an idea of how much guitars cost these days. We have seen some interesting ones like the gibson 20th anniversary 1957 les paul custom black at musicians friend, but for now, we’re still looking for affordable ones that may be suitable for those who are still trying to learn how to play the guitar. Anyway, since I won’t be able to use the computer as much since the children will be using it as well; it means that I’ll have more time reading this weekend (which is great since I have bought some new books two weeks ago).
With Christmas less than a week away, I’m sure that most of you are already trying their best to keep up with everything that’s going on at home and work. Between attending parties and reunions and trying to do some last minute shopping, the days leading to Christmas can be really busy and stressful for most people. Its important that we all find the time to do things that will relax us, like read a book, listen to calming music or spend some quiet time with the family.
Our family has also been quite busy; the kids have just finished their exams this week. Our youngest had their sports fest this morning and will have their class Christmas party tomorrow. Our eldest is on a short break and will have to enroll for the third term after the holidays. We are also attending the Simbang Gabi, a nine day novena mass that is held in preparation for Christmas. We attend the 9:30p.m.mass here in our Parish Church. This will be the eight consecutive year that we’re attending the Simbang Gabi and we hope that we get to complete it again. We don’t have any plans for Christmas day itself, we’ll most likely just spend it here at home. We will attend the Christmas Eve mass and have a simple dinner afterwards.
So, how are you keeping up with all the holiday frenzy that is going on around you? I do hope that you are able to deal with all the stress and not lose sight of the important things (and people) that you should focus on this Christmas.
I have been trying to create a blog post for over an hour now but it’s taking longer than usual because we, like most Filipinos who are glued to their TV sets this morning, are also watching the Senate hearing on the PDAF scam. We are all hoping that that the truth will finally come out and that those that stole from the people will be persecuted. Anyway, I still have a lot of things on my to-do list and I am hoping that I can do them all before the day ends. This includes checking out online shopping sites to look for ideas on gift items that we can buy this Christmas. Our youngest has been requesting for a new bicycle while our eldest hasn’t asked for anything specific. I guess he would want something that will keep him busy during his free time aside from tinkling with his mobile phone and chatting with his friends on FB. He has been talking about learning how to play the guitar so we are considering buying him one. I just hope we can find an affordable one since the ones that we saw at the mall are quite expensive. I’ll be looking at some online stores that sell musical instruments and accessories such as david gage realist pickup at musicians friend. I just hope we can find one that is not only within our budget but one that our son likes as well. Anyway, I hope that I will be able to accomplish everything that’s on my list especially since I have a lot of things lined up for tomorrow. Oh by the way, the senate hearing has become ‘very intense’ and interesting…and judging by the tweets that I have been seeing on my feeds, a lot of people cannot concentrate on eating their lunch because of it.
